Inferno By Damien Hirst

Inferno is a framed singed limited edition lenticular of 50 by Damien Hirst based on his Entomology Cabinets works. Inferno is a square lenticular - digital print on PETG plastic framed in a black frame. The signature and edition number are etched on the reverse. The use of the lenticular printing method creating an illusion of depth that shows the artwork in its full glory. Like butterflies the insects in this work appealed to Damien Hirst as they maintain their appearance of life and iridescent beauty even in death. The 'Entomology Works' are named after phases and characters in Dante Alighieri's tortuous vision of the afterlife, the Divine Comedy. As Hirst explains, the paintings are: "beautiful and horrific at the same time, you can't help but be drawn into it, seduced by it, but you want to run away from it."
